Norway's Oslo coalition team of experts visited the University of the Punjab and called on acting vice-chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Butt here on Tuesday.

Team co-ordinator Lena Larsen briefed the VC about the Oslo coalition. She said the coalition was an international network of representatives from faith communities, NGOs, international organisations, and the academia, with the objective of promoting freedom of religion or belief and strengthening interfaith co-operation world-wide.

She said the Oslo coalition was in the process of launching a project in Pakistan, which would focus on developing relationship between academic institution in Norway and Pakistan, with a view to possible co-operation in the fields of inter-religious dialogue, organisation of academic courses, curriculum development and human rights protection.

The senior faculty members of Punjab University comprising Dean Islamic and Oriental Learning Professor Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, Dean Faculty of Law Professor Dr Dil Muhammad Malik, Principal Oriental College Professor Dr Mazhar Moeen, Chairman Mass Communication Department Professor Dr Mughees ud din, Chairperson Political Science Department Dr Ambreen Javed, Chairman Sociology Department Dr Muhammad Hafeez, Chairperson Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Dr Shahida Hussnain and PU Registrar Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan attended the meeting.
